Computer Repair and Data Recovery

In an ideal world, everyone would back up computer data. Unfortunately, that is usually not the case.

What is Data Recovery?

Losing data is a matter of when, not if, which makes data recovery a vital service. Just as people often ignore car problems until their car breaks down, they use the same short-sightedness where computer data is concerned. Consumers demand cheaper computers, and as a result, hard drives are not as reliable as they used to be. You need to have a backup system of some sort or you will end up being a statistic somewhere.
Your daughter's wedding pictures? Gone. Your company's bookkeeping? Gone. And that novel that you spent five years writing and researching? Gone as well. As a computer repair service, we see a lot of these sort of tragedies on a weekly basis. And these tragedies all have one thing in common: they could have been avoided.

What Should I Backup?

What should you backup on your computer? You only have to backup data files on your computer. Your software is usually available online and/or on a disc. And even in your data files, not everything needs a backup copy. There are several methods of saving a copy of your data from cloud backups to something as simple as an external hard drive or large capacity flash drive. You also want to back up your data often, every time you change something, or every week, whichever comes first. A good way to do this is to make a list of the files you will need in the event of data loss.
No one wants to lose their information. If you do, however, don't panic. Sometimes, it is possible to get it back. However, you want to go to a professional to do it, a computer repair shop in Mesa, AZ.

Is it serious if your processor overheats? Yes. Your processor is one of the most important components in any computer. It is essentially the brain of your computer. Without your processor, your computer's programs simply won't work. One thing that can cause a processor to go bad is if it overheats.
Putting a desktop in the hottest part of the house is never smart. There's a very good reason computer centers are a lot cooler than other rooms. Remember, that whatever the temperature of the room is, the inside of your computer will be substantially hotter. Your system will do the best it can to cool off the processor, but if it can't, then your computer will shut down and you'll have to go to a computer repair shop. While damage to a component such as your fan can cause your processor to overheat, sometimes, a computer user can cause a processor to go bad because of doing something not recommended by the manufacturer: overclocking.

Computer Processors and Overclocking

What is overclocking? When you overclock, you increase your processor's clock rate, running it at higher speeds than it was designed to run at. While overclocking can increase your computer's speed in different areas, it is also inherently dangerous for a number of reasons. For one thing, it overheats your processor, making additional cooling methods necessary. Another issue with overclocking is that if your processor manufacturer finds evidence of overclocking, it automatically voids the warranty on your processor.
If you take care of your computer, you can make it last for years. So remember, keep your computer cool. Don't overclock your processor, and if your processor or any other component of your system isn't working, call a computer repair shop .

Computer Repair and Computer Problems Part 2: The Sounds of Trouble

What's Making My Computer Slow Down?

What does it mean when your computer is slow? Let's start with the simple stuff first. If you haven't rebooted your computer in a long time, it might be a good idea to either shut your computer down, wait approximately 60 seconds and power it up again, or do a simple restart of your system. Why does this work sometimes?
One of the most common causes of computer slowness is if you have any programs or processes running in the background. For example, if your antivirus software is running a scan in the background, this can slow your computer down considerably. To see what's running, as well as what system resources such as memory or processor usage, open the Task manager on your computer. If you're on Windows 7 or higher, use Resmon instead to get a better understanding of how your computer is using resources. Sometimes though, your computer could be slowing down for a hardware related issue.

Computer Slowness and Hard Drive Space

If you're starting to run low on disk space, this can also have an effect on your computer speed. You want at least 200-500MB of free hard drive space. You want to have enough room to allow your swap file as well as any temporary files to be able to increase in size. The easiest way to check this is to right click on your hard drive, and select Properties. If you have more than enough space on your hard drive, you may want to check to make sure that there aren't any bad sectors or fragmentation. However, there are also other causes of computer slowness from hardware conflicts to malware.
If you have tried the simple fixes and you're still having a problem, you want to get your computer into a computer repair shop as soon as you can.
